The Basics

1. How to install Hopedot VOS?

1). Unzip the file if needed or  run the file directly and it will first display the version of VOS and other information. Click "Next" to continue.

2). The VOS License Agreement. Select "I agree" then click "Next" to continue installation.

3). Select a destination to install VOS. For example, you can select your D: local disk and install on your local hard disk drive, then you click "Next" to go on. or you can select H: Rmovable disk and install it on your mobile devices. Hopedot VOS will automatically detect available removable storage devices.

4). After selecting the disk, Hopedot VOS will then ask your to create a partition file on your disk. A partition file is where all your stuff on Hopedot VOS environment will be stored. So if you have tons of applications and files to install on it, set a relatively large capacity. Note that you should set a capacity of no less than 100 MB and mo more than your disk capacity.

Then you will set a password for your partition file. which is very important and you will use it to access your Hopedot VOS environment.

5). After partition file creation, click "Next" and Hopedot VOS will begin to install and in a few seconds it will be finished. You will see the finishing setup interface.

2. How to create an account and set passwords?

1). After installation and now we begin to run Hopedot VOS, and you will see the following window.Do you still remember the password that we previously set for the partition file?  This is what you have to enter every time you access your Hopedot VOS environment.

2). After that, you will see the Hopedot VOS account creation window below. Just choose a username and set password for it. Then you may notice that there is a data security management setting. This is  what you need when changing security settings. For example, you may want to enable or disable import or export feature of your Hopedot VOS so that others will not tamper with your stuff.

3). Ok, finally we have come to the last step. When you see the window below, you can enter your serial number and begin to run Hopedot VOS, or you can click "Trial" and try it for a while. Note that trial version of it is almost fully function. However, you can only access trial version for 100 times in total.

3. How to uninstall Hopedot VOS?
You can go to your system "Start Menu"- "All Programs" and find and click "Uninstall.exe" under "Hopedot VOS".

4. Can Hopedot VOS run in Windows 7?
Yes, the latest version of Hopedot VOS can run in Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and 7.

5. Does Hopedot VOS support 64-bits Windows System?
We are sorry that Hopedot VOS does not support any 64-bit version of Windows Operating System. However we are now working hard to figure it out. It will be released soon.

6. How long does it take me to install a new Hopedot VOS on my device?
It is fast and easy to install Hopedot VOS, usually you can do it in less than 2 minutes. To install Hopedot VOS is the same as you install other software on Windows.

7. How much disk space does VOS take after installed?
The setup file of VOS only takes 6 MB, after installation, the VOS virtual system takes about 17 MB. The final amount of space it takes depends on how many software you will install on the VOS virtual system. The more software you install on it, the more space it will take.

8. What kind of portable device does Hopedot VOS support?
It supports all kinds of portable devices, such as iPods, USB flash drives, removable hard disks, storage cards, mp3 players, mp4 players, etc. But to run Hopedot VOS fast, we suggest you install Hopedot VOS on a high speed portable device.

9. Can I install Hopedot VOS on a NTFS USB flash drive?
Yes, it can install on the device of both NTFS and FAT32 formats.

10. How many applications could I install on Hopedot VOS virtual operation system?
Actually, you could install as many as you wish if your disk space is large enough.

11. Work on Windows XP, but not on Winodows 7?
We suggest you disable the User Account Control (UAC) feature on your Windows 7 computer before you run Hopedot VOS.The guide is:

1). Launch MSCONFIG from the Run menu.

2). Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find “Disable UAC”. Click to disable it.

12. Do not show disk in the install destination list?
In order to separate the VOS system to the host pc, and prevent your host PC infecting virus and malware, you will be unable to install VOS to the "System Drive" which is usually your C Drive.

Other drives will be listed as suggested targets for installation.

If you only have a C drive – you will need to plug in a USB device and install to your USB device.

13. Do I have to connect my computer with internet in order to use Hopedot VOS?
No, you could use Hopedot VOS without Internet access.

14. How do I import and export files in Hopedot VOS?
Hopedot VOS pays great attention to your privacy and security. You can not cut and paste applications easily between your Hopedot VOS environment and the outside environment. Rather, you have to import and export them.

Export files from Hopedot VOS to other places.


First click the "export" button on the toolbar (The sixth one from left). Then you will see an export tools Window as shown below. (Note please first make sure that Export feature is enabled, if not go to setting - security and enable it first.). You can find the files you want to export and right click it and select "export" and then select a path to export. If you can not find your files in the default Window, feel free to use the back button and find it in other files.

There is another easier way of exporting files. Just find the file you want to export and right click on the file and then select "export" and choose an export path file. It is done!

Import files from other places to Hopedot VOS

Importing files is similar to exporting files and it is easier to do. First click the "import" button on the toolbar, also make sure that you enable the feature. and then you will need to find and select the file you want to import to Hopedot VOS.

15. How to install programs in Hopedot VOS?
Hopedot VOS allows you to install and run Windows programs directly. It is just the same as you do on Windows operating system.

1. Login Hopedot VOS

2. Download the programs in Hopedot VOS and install them directly or find the program installer in the host computer hard drive and import them to your Hopedot VOS and then begin the installation. (If you do not know how to import files, see the previous item. )

16. What devices can I install and run Hopedot VOS besides my computer local hard disk drive?
You can install and run Hopedot VOS not only on your computer hard drives, but also all other removable storage devices, such as USB flash drives, external hard drives, iPods etc.

Note that you can not install Hopedot VOS on a VCD, DVD or BD.

17. How to hide the VOS tool bar?
To hide the tool bar, you could simply drag the tool bar to the top of the desktop screen.

18. How to boot pc from Hopedot VOS?
You can not boot PC from Hopedot VOS. Hopedot VOS relies on the host Windows operating system to run.

19. Why Hopedot VOS runs slow on my device?
Normally, Hopedot VOS system will run as fast as your host PC OS. If Hopedot VOS runs very slow in your device, it is mainly due to following reasons.

1. You try to run Hopedot VOS off a low speed device, such a non USB 2.0 flash drive. Generally, we suggest you install and run Hopedot VOS on your local hard disk. To intall and run Hopedot VOS on a removable device for mobile use, we suggest you install and run it on a high-speed device, such as an external hard drive.

2. You may have installed too many applications on one Hopedot VOS system. If you really need to run many applications off Hopedot VOS, we suggest you first categorize your applications, for example application for work, applications for entertainment etc, and then respectively install them to different Hopedot VOS systems (Note: Hopedot VOS allows you to install more than one on your device and each with different contents, though you can only login one with your account at the same time).
